As well as being an area of pain and dysfunction the thoracic spine and ribs house the the mediastinum and autonomic nervous system (ANS).

 

In this lecture we will review the anatomy and physiology of the thoracic spine and ribs and explore how manual techniques can be used to influence not only the function of the musculo-skeletal system but the lymphatic, immune and autonomic system.

• Understand the structure & function of thoracic spine and ribs.

• Understand the physiology of the ANS and its relationship to the thoracic spine and ribs.

• Palpate, diagnose and treat the thorax, ribs and mediastinum.
