Elbow,Wrist & Hand

Ultimately the function of the upper limb is to move the hand in space so that humans can use the hand and fingers.

In this workshop we will explore the functional relationship between the shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand with emphasis on dysfunction and pathology of the elbow and hand.

The hand is a window for viewing other pathologies in the body. Osteoarthritis, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Psoriatic Arthropathy, diabetes and even signs of lung and heart pathology are expressed through the hand.

Furthermore, the elbow, wrist and hand are areas in which functional disturbance can be debilitating.  Tennis/Golfer's elbow, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome and  Ganglions are just a few examples of the topics explored in this workshop.

As well as understanding the pathophysiology of the upper limb we will learn to palpate, examine and treat the upper limb

Workshop schedule:

  • Theory ~ 50 mins

  • Coffee ~ 10 mins

  • Practical ~1 hr 20 min
